“You’re always cocky,” he aims for a joke, but his voice comes out too serious, too strained. He’s glad Jack is talking, though, if he’s awake that means he’ll be alright. “Here, take this,” and he pushes a painkiller into the other’s hand while he holds onto the glass of water himself. “You’re lucky I found you, what was going on this time? Or is this secret Council business I’m not allowed to know?” He didn’t like it when the Council forced his boyfriend to keep things from him, but he also knew that there was nothing he could do about it, so he accepted it - usually.

The Knight had a healthy mix of respect and dislike for the White Council, but right now the dislike was leaning more into hatred. He had to get that under control - hate led to nothing good, after all - but with Jack bleeding out in his arms because of the Council’s obstinacy, Raphael had other priorities. Like getting the wizard up the stairs and into a bed so that he could take care of the wounds. Luckily, he knew what to do and soon enough Jack was bandaged and stable. All he could do now was wait until his boyfriend woke up.
